If a candidate lies and Mr. Wallace is aware of it, he has an obligation as a journalist to ask follow-up questions that will elicit the truth. Otherwise, why is it necessary to have members of the Fourth Estate act as moderators? Mr. Wallace could be replaced by a network quiz show moderator if no “truth squadding” is involved.
