They are back in business. Well, it may not exactly be business as usual. For one, there’s still a tremendous amount of construction to be done, and a sizable number of reporters and a city official or two visited on Tuesday. But the stores and businesses on West 23rd Street Take Orangetheory Fitness, which opened at 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, even though its front windows were shattered and had to be secured with duct tape. Its glass door entrance was broken and had to be removed. The windows should be fixed within the next 10 days, said Debra Wilhelm, the studio manager. But members came for their workout, hugging the managers and taking selfies with them to celebrate. The gym was up and running. “It’s starting to feel normal,” Ms. Wilhelm said. Across the street, Chelsea Hair Studio lost $2,500 in business during the two days that its doors were closed because of the explosion, said Johnny Plishte, a manager. But in the hours and days after the blast, customers were frantically calling the owner and manager, making sure they were O.K. How was he feeling Tuesday morning? “Lucky,” Mr. Plishte said.
