We comb through releases big and small to email readers twice a week with our timely recommendations. You can browse previous guides Dear Watchers, Are you ready? This is the week when network shows start to debut and return, and though we’ll continue to see season and series premieres through October, this is the week when we flip the switch (and switch the flip). My gosh, it feels good. We have recommendations for you every day this week, but if you want to stock your coffers, there’s always more to add to your watchlist See you Friday. I’ll be the one rolling around in TV shows like a puppy in a pile of leaves. “The Good Place,” 10 p.m., NBC. (New Series) After one episode, it’s not clear that the show wouldn’t be better off as a movie, but in the five episodes made available to critics, the show does make a convincing case for itself. “Place” is funny and gentle (and not religious, if that’s something you wonder about), and once the premise establishes itself, the ensemble settles into an easy, cartoony rhythm. NBC is wisely airing two episodes in a row for the premiere, and the show airs a third episode in its regular time slot on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. “Loosely Exactly Nicole,” 10:30 p.m., MTV. ALSO ON “The Big Bang Theory” season premiere, 8 p.m., CBS. “Kevin Can Wait,” 8:30 p.m., CBS. (New Series) “Lucifer,” season premiere, 9 p.m., Fox. “This Is Us,” 10 p.m., NBC. (New Series) “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” season premiere, 8 p.m., Fox. ALSO ON “Bull,” 9 p.m., CBS. (New Series) “New Girl” and “Scream Queens,” 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., season premieres, Fox. “Lethal Weapon,” “Speechless,” 8:30 p.m., ABC. (New Series) It centers on the DiMeo family, whose oldest son JJ (Micah Fowler) has cerebral palsy, and uses a wheelchair and an alternative-communication device. (This aspect of the show is “Designated Survivor,” ALSO ON “Survivor,” season premiere, 8 p.m., CBS. “Empire,” “black-ish,” “Mr. Robot,” “ Luckily, it does. Bunbury is terrific, as is Mark-Paul Gosselaar as the veteran catcher who’s skeptical of Ginny’s rise. Sports stories have some familiar beats we want them to hit, and “Pitch” certainly does so, but with energy and promise that makes it feel close and comforting rather than clichéd. As a woman and a hard-core baseball fan, “Pitch” absolutely delighted me. It’s my favorite network pilot this year. “Notorious,” series premiere, 9 p.m., ABC. “Easy,” Netflix. (New Series) ALSO ON “Grey’s Anatomy,” season premiere, 8 p.m., ABC. “Superstore,” season premiere, 8 p.m., NBC. “How to Get Away With Murder,” season premiere, 10 p.m., ABC. Stop murdering! You won’t have to get away with anything else if you simply cease murdering others. One of the year’s biggest movies will become available to stream on Netflix starting Tuesday. They were pretty good! Here’s
